disclaimer....I know there are a few medical buffs that actually read this blog, so don't hold me to this. It's all translated through Loni-ese.
the opposite of a hemophiliac?
Loni Hicks!
Some people have a drinking problem. I have a clotting problem.
Apparently I have Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome--the anticardiolipin, which is not lupus (which is good!)...the British call it "Sticky Blood"--- apparently prevents my body from breaking down clots, so they get mega huge and get all clotted and make my extremities hurt (thank the Lord for Vicodin!) It apparently happens to me during "major hormonal shifts" such as being on birth control (boo!) and pregnancy and breastfeeding. I was on the meds to prevent said clot...but....they took me off too early...Live and learn, right?
I apparently have a "not as big as last time" blood clot behind my left knee, a result of getting off my prophylactic (preventative) heparin (anticoagulant) too early whilst breast feeding.
Good news: no hospital! can still breastfeed (eventually!)
Bad news: pump and dump (sucks) and baby is now on formula (sucks) TEMPORARILY until the Lovenox (expensive heparin...) gets out of my system and I am just on warfarin (rat poison---no, I am not being cheeky), which I can apparently breastfeed whilst on. Jehovah Jirah! Dance dance.....
Can anyone recommend a doctor that actually listens to you, somewhere in NW Arkansas? I feel a change a' coming!
